Vienna

Arriving into Vienna after a very long travel day, we hid in the hotel for a couple of hours before heading out to explore!

We pootled towards the centre, seeing the Hofburg and Museum Quarter lit up in the sunset.

We then ate at a proper traditional Viennese restaurant, who were very patient with my remnants of GCSE German!

Overall, a great first evening!
We started the next day with breakfast at the beautiful Palmenhaus restaurant, eating amongst the plants in the greenhouse!

From there, we headed out separate ways for a bit. I ended up exploring the area around St. Stephen's Cathedral, culminating in a hugely fun trip to the Apotheke!

After a delicious and nutritious watermelon-based lunch from the vastly superior SPAR-Gourmet, we visited the town hall, which was in the middle of a building site for some kind of election/Eurovision rally - an eclectic combination.

I then went for a run, and (entirely by accident) stumbled across the main Eurovision arena just around the corner from our hotel!

We then headed over to the Prater for the evening - a fabulous amusement park located in the Prater Gardens.
Five rides and a gigantic Wiener Schnitzel later, and it all began to get quite creepy, with lights flicking off and shutters rolling down. Near freezing, we scampered back to the station to head home after a brilliant day in Vienna.
