Budapest

After a bit of downtime, we headed out to the Timeout Market for a belated lunch. We both sampled some Hungarian streetfood delights, which were delicious. Still in need of a little sustenance, we spotted a familiar sign and headed over for a snack...

We then swung by St. Stephen's Basilica, before pootling down towards the river.

It was then time to board our sunset cruise along the Danube, which gave us stunning views out across the city.

Afterwards, we ran along the river to catch sight of the Hungarian Parliament building, all lit up against the night sky.

On Day 2, we had a very leisurely morning before heading over to Castle Hill, on the other side of the river in Buda.

We had amazing, albeit very busy, views of Fisherman's Bastion and other key landmarks.

Afterwards, we headed over to the House of Music, an immersive and interactive museum about... Music! It was phenomenal. Genuinely incredible - so immersive and just great fun. We could both have spent several more hours there, and the temporary exhibition on Freddie Mercury also looked great!

And finally, we finished the day with a bite to eat at Karavan and a drink at Szimpla Kert.

On our final day we were catching the sleeper train into Romania at 17:40. We had most of the day to fill, but didn't want anything too taxing. As the perfect solution, we headed to the Lukacs Baths.

We spent about 2 hours there - no photographic evidence for obvious reasons! Really fun though, and incredibly relaxing. After a long soak and a good shower, we went for a stroll on Margaret Island, one of Budapest's main parks.

By this point, it was time for our train, so we dashed to the station ready for our first sleeper train.
